Javane Johnson's Journey to Employment

Securing His Future in Security with the Help of UKSPF

Javane Johnson recently secured a Security Officer role with Equans, thanks to the support of the CLF UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) programme. He first joined the programme at Lambeth College, where he sought help refining his CV for security roles. With the guidance of his caseworker, Roy Ramkali, Javane attended a CV workshop and mock interview sessions, which greatly improved his confidence.

Javane applied for a security position with Equans, a contractor for Lambeth Council, and with Roy’s support, he successfully navigated the application process. After receiving tailored feedback and interview preparation, he was selected for the role.

Reflecting on the experience, Javane said, "The end objective was to gain full time employment and the UKSPF programme really helped me get that job. They also gave me the confidence to by setting up mock interviews and sharing techniques to use while in the interview. Also, the extra support by you contacting the employer for me to get the necessary details so I know what I’m doing on the day."

Javane’s story is a testament to the effectiveness of the UKSPF programme in helping individuals overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve meaningful employment. His future plans include advancing within the security field and continuing to contribute to his community.

The role with Equans was secured by the Be Lambeth team, and is a great example of how employers can work with us to get the talent they need.
